I have begun work on a rain series. To capture landscapes I experience around me during, before and after rain.

I have seen a lot of monsoons and heavy rain in my life. I am inspired by the wetness, the wind, the light, the sound, new life of flora, and the smell of the first rain. Or the moments just before rain that has always seemed to me like a transformative before-after. Rain has the power to transform a landscape drastically, and I wanted to take up the challenge to bring all these aspects to my paintings. I am especially mesmerized by the way the raindrops hit the ground and get dispersed. I want to bring out the dynamics as well as the wetness, and the hypnotizing aspects of watching rain fall.

Here is Rain #1. I wanted to capture here the dynamic moment when raindrops hit the ground.
